Renault Trucks is committed to reduce the impact that road freight transport has on the environment.
Operations producing Renault trucks scarcely generate pollution, but operating the vehicles is a source of nuisance. Renault Trucks uses considerable human and financial resources to minimise these nuisances throughout the life cycle of its vehicles.
Air quality and energy efficiency
The truck building industry has achieved some spectacular results in reducing pollutant engine emissions. With the implementation of Euro VI standards in 2014, nitrous oxides and particles emissions will have been reduced by 90% compared with 1990 levels.
Now, faced with the global challenge of climate change and the implication of CO2 emissions, Renault Trucks continues to develop ever more fuel efficient solutions as well as offer alternative drivelines: optimized diesel engines; full electric vehicles; CNG vehicles; biodiesel ; eco-driving training; fleet management; on-board monitoring software.
In 2013, Renault Trucks totally renewed its products range and launched a new generation of Euro VI vehicles providing up to 5% fuel economy compared to previous Euro V trucks. For additional fuel savings, Renault Trucks offers its Optifuel Solutions, a set of products and services that makes it possible to optimally configure and equip vehicles, instruct drivers in eco-driving, measure and analyse truck consumption over a long period via specialised software and finally upgrade their performance in the course of their operational life.
A shared commitment
In order to contribute to the introduction of efficient and lasting transport solutions, Renault Trucks implements an environment policy based on clear commitments and a rigorous system of management involving dealers, suppliers and partners as well. The manufacturing of Renault Trucks vehicles is made in 14001 certified plants. It is designed to limit raw material consumption and waste generation. Every vehicle is manufactured with the aim of reusing a maximum amount of its component materials.
Life cycle analysis
Renault Trucks draws Environmental product information from life cycle analyses (LCAs) carried out on its vehicles. These cover all phases in a truck’s life, from the production of raw materials right through to final dismantling and recycling. It provides data concerning the environmental impact of each one of these phases. Life cycle analysis also makes it possible to determine a vehicle’s global warming potential throughout its operational life. This information is available on request at Renault Trucks Environmental Management Department.
